Packing your order: what's in the box

Every order leaves our Sydney fulfilment partner in a recycled kraft mailer or box, sealed with paper tape rather than the plastic packing tape most couriers use by default. Void space is filled with shredded cardboard offcuts, not the loose plastic chips this industry still leans on.

Watches travel in a small kraft box wrapped in tissue rather than a moulded plastic tray, mostly because the walnut casing scuffs against hard plastic in transit and cardboard does not. It is a packaging choice made for the product first and the footprint second, and we think that is a fair way to admit it.

The one plastic in the box is the small silica gel sachet in with the bamboo drinkware, keeping moisture out of the wood during the sea leg from Nepal. We have not found a fibre-based substitute that performs as well yet, so it stays in for now — see our Sustainability page for the fuller list of what we have not solved.

None of this is compostable at home; kraft mailers and paper tape both go in kerbside recycling once you have removed any tissue.
